The lure of big-city temptations fades quickly when faced with the reality of life in the metropolis—long commutes, three-hour searches for overpriced parking, and mortgages that drain 60 percent or more of your take-home pay. Michael Overall with The Tulsa World gives us a delightful account of his recent trip to Chicago and why natives and transplants alike are finding Tulsa among the most desirable of addresses.

I was born in Coalgate in 1956, lived in Atoka until 1976 when I married and moved to Texas. I lived in Atoka again from 1985-1989. I simply adore the Oklahoma spirit. There are no people in the world that are harder working, caring, giving, loving, resilient, and just plain "good folk". I will always be an Okie and always be proud to be called an Okie. When the Oklahoma City bombing happened , the Moore tornadoes and now the grass fires the rest of the country has seen what Oklahomans are made of, and it is "true grit". God bless the Sooner state and God bless the Oklahomans.

I applied to several medical schools and chose to stay in state because I believe in Oklahoma, and I want to be a primary care physician-leader in my home state. Plus, the OSU Center for Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine is so highly ranked in primary care that I couldn't have made a better decision in choosing med schools. As a first year student and even in the throws of gross anatomy, I never lose sight of why I believe in Oklahoma!

Oklahoma offers scenery found in every state of the Union. Why go elsewhere? It's all here. The mesas in the "high country" of the west. The Wichita Mountains in the southwest. The rolling plains and red dirt country of central Oklahoma. Falls Creek in the south. Tall grass prairie in the north. Concentration of lakes in the Northeast. Verdant foliage and foothills of the Ozarks in the east. Lush vegetation of southeast Oklahoma. Scenery varied enough to last a lifetime. Visitors from other states are amazed.

Oklahoma is business-friendly indeed. My Oklahoma business career treated me well.

And most importantly, Oklahomans who are complete strangers will "howdy" you on the street.

Oklahoma will always rest gentle on my mind.
