Carrie Underwood Donates Musical Instruments to Hometown School August 31, 2009 - The Tulsa World reports country music superstar and Oklahoma's own Carrie Underwood gave her hometown school district a gift that will change lives.
The gift of music, $117,000 in musical instruments - will go to three music programs at three Checotah schools.
Underwood and her recently-founded nonprofit Checotah Animal, Town and Schools, or CATS, has partnered with the Academy of Country Music's Lifting Lives program to make her dream of music a reality, according to the World.
Instruments that have been donated include sousaphones; tubas; marching baritones; French horns; baritone, alto and tenor saxophones, an oboe, bass clarinets, cornets, flugel horns, concert bells, a xylophone, marimba, vibraphone, electric guitar, guitar amp and electric piano. |
