Five Oklahoma-Born Celebrities Make Forbes' Celebrity 100 June 8, 2009 - The Journal Record reports five Oklahoma-born celebrities -- were ranked among Forbes magazine's annual Celebrity 100, which ranks the rich and famous based on media exposure and career earnings over the past year.
The Oklahoma-born celebrities include Brad Pitt, Phil McGraw, Ron Howard, Toby Keith and Carrie Underwood.
Brad Pitt, born in Shawnee in 1963, ranked No. 9. Vinita-born Phil McGraw, best know as television's Dr. Phil, ranked No. 12.
Ron Howard, who was born in Duncan in 1954 but moved to California as a young child, ranked No. 51 as a team with Brian Grazer.
Toby Keith comes in at No. 59, after selling more than 1 million copies of his latest album.
Carrie Underwood, who was born in Muskogee in 1983 and grew up on her parents' farm in Checotah, was ranked No. 75 with 2008 pay of $14 million, according to Forbes.
The former American Idol winner has sold nearly 10 million albums in the U.S. since 2005, according to the Journal Record. |
